I'm back.

I'm finally back after taking a break from blogging for nearly two years. Its been an awful two years in so many ways involving cancer, a new job, death and dealing with the impact and sense of loss my inability to have children has created within me; to name but a few. However I am now in a better place and frame of mind. I'm ready to get back into blogging and my life on a whole. I've been told I need to take more time for me and so this is my first step, my little online diary of the books I've read is going to restart.
Thank you for popping by :-)

Why do I read?

Why do I read is question I have been asked many times. I usually come up with a simple answer such as I love it or I consider it a hobby etc. However, life and the workings of the mind are strange.  Suddenly and somewhat out of the blue an ordinary, mundane question (that you've previously been asked a million times) makes an impact. It happened to me this week. Why do I read took on a whole new dimension, I considered the question and thought to myself. Why DO I read? This is the result of the pondering that followed.

  • I read because I love it.
  • I read because it provides and escape from the horrors of life as well as the mundane.
  • I read because I am nosy and want to read about the lives of others.
  • I read because books are magnificent things, with the ability to transport me a thousand miles in any direction; simply through the reorganization of words I use everyday.
  • I read because its safe.
  • I read because its comforting.
  • I read because I love the emotional roller coaster involved in a really good book.
  • I read to travel through time.
  • I read for stress relief.
  • I read to rescue a child.
  • I read because I'd rather spend my money on books than anything else in the world.
  • I read in order to live a thousand lives.
  • I read to relax.
  • I read to fight crime.
  • I read to push myself.
  • I read to learn.
  • I read to be lazy and procrastinate.
  • I read to be scared.
  • I read because I live in a country where creative writing is encouraged in schools.
  • I read to fall in love at first sight.
  • I read to become enraged at the injustices of the world.
  • I read to enjoy the sadness and thrill of reading a book I truly love as its nearing its end.
  • I read because books can be fantastic, terrible or awe inspiring but you don't know until you read them.
  • I read because I was born into a family that encouraged it.
  • I read to fight monsters and aliens.
  • I read because Mr P puts up with it.
  • I read because to stop would be remove a treasured part of my life and personality.
  • I read to save the world.
  • I read because of all the wonderful authors who have sat down and put pen to paper.
  • I read because the imagination is endless.
  • I read because I was lucky enough to grow up in a country that demands girls are fully educated.
  • I read because I can.
  • I read because it is me.
  • I read because I want too.
